DR BARBARA MASON
Dr Munduru Barbara (Buga) Mason was born and raised in Kampala, Uganda. She attended Makarere University and completed the undergraduate medicine programme, receiving her MBChB in 2003. She then completed her internship and worked for the MTCT Plus Initiative, an NGO which provides one-stop family-based care for HIV positive patients. She moved to South Africa in 2009 and received her license to practice medicine from the HPCSA in 2010. She then began working as a Medical Officer in the Paediatrics Department at Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha, Eastern Cape. In 2012, she began the postgraduate registrar training programme at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, specialising in Paediatrics. She completed the programme in 2017 and received her Master of Medicine (MMed) in 2018. That same year she began her career in private practice as a GP at Busamed Harrismith Private Hospital in Harrismith, Free State. Upon registration as a Specialist Paediatrician in early 2019, she relocated to Life Anncron Hospital in Klerksdorp where her practice is now based.
Dr Mason (Buga) is now able to fulfil her lifelong passion for working with children. As a Specialist Paediatrician, she finds comfort in providing knowledgeable advice and helping parents to make the best decisions for their children's health. Her genuine desire is to help children and to be a voice for those who may or may not be able to voice their own pain and suffering. She enjoys assisting families in shaping the future of her little patients by providing thorough and comprehensive care. Her tender, jovial, and inquisitive nature, as well as her attention to detail, are what sets her apart as an exceptional specialist in her field.
Barbara is married to her husband, Mr John Mason, who also serves as her Practice Manager. They currently share their home with three dogs and are hoping to have their own little ones in the future.
